WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
When you visit a church for the first time it can be intimidating – we hope that this is not your experience of St Marks and that you feel welcome and at home as you join us at one of our services. On arriving at St Marks after finding a parking spot, you will walk up to our main church building and be greeted by our welcoming team, They will say ‘hi’, and help you to find a seat. If you have any questions at all, about the service or facilities (like “where is the bathroom?!”) they will be more than happy to show you around. Don’t be shy to ask if you are not sure about something!
Our service will go for just over 1 hr. We will open by singing a few songs together, then our service leader will welcome you. We will have a time of prayer, and then a reading from the Bible. Our Lead Pastor James Galea will then share a message from the passage that has been read out. Then we will share in communion together and you are invited to stay for a coffee and hot cross bun afterwards.
WHAT ABOUT THE SUNRISE SERVICE?
We will meet on Freshwater Beach with printed handouts to guide you through the service. We will sing a few songs, pray set prayers, and hear a short talk from our Lead Pastor James Galea. The service will be approx. 35 mins. At the end of the service, we will invite everyone to celebrate the good news of Easter by either dipping your feet in the water or jumping all the way in.
WHERE DO I TAKE MY CHILDREN?
For 9 am Good Friday, you will take your kids straight to the church hall at the beginning of the service. This program is for 1-year-old to year 2. Those older than year 3 will join us in the service and they will be provided with an interactive kids pack.
For 9am Easter Sunday, we have an extra special Easter Program for all ages up to year 6.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
We would suggest getting here at least 10 minutes early for our Easter services as it can be a busy time! We especially want you to find a seat where you are most comfortable, and you’ll feel more comfortable in the room if you have a few minutes to adjust before the service begins. We especially suggest arriving early if you have children who will be attending our Kids church.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Something you already own and that you feel comfortable in! There is no formal dress code at St Marks, no need to feel like you have to dress up – but you of course can put on your Sunday best if that is what you are happiest in! Most of our congregation wear smart casual attire, think what you would wear to a weekend BBQ with friends.
